Title: Equality and Diversity Manager
Yasmin is the Equality and Diversity Manager for the Vela Group, a partnership between Housing Hartlepool and Tristar Homes. Yasmin has a breadth of experience working with diverse groups and stakeholders in identifying appropriate service interventions for Black and Minority groups and communities with diverse needs. Her professional experience includes numerous research studies for social inclusion projects, a Trans-national Employment and skill project, identifying a sub-regional race equality body and she has served as Chair of the Strategic Independent Advisory Group for Cleveland Police for over five years. She has worked for a range of Housing providers since moving from the South East of England from a commercially professional setting.
Between November 2004 and June 2008 she successfully managed a European Social funded project aimed to increase the number of BME employees in the Housing Sector for the North East of England. This project also looked at European methodologies to tackle xenophobia and promoted equality of opportunity for BME groups within Employment. This project received national accolade and was featured as a model of good practice for the European Social Funded, “Equal” GB Programme.
